Millwright Community Engagement:
Labour Day
Labour Day serves as both a day of formal recognition for the labour movement and as a day of rest and recreation for all workers. While Labour Day parades and picnics are organized by unions. It is a time to celebrate the important contributions working people make to our economy.

National Day of Morning
Every year on April 28th a National Day of Mourning is observed to pay tribute to the thousands of workers who have been injured, suffer illness or died due to work-related incidents.
Families and friends who have been affected by these tragedies are also honoured.
Political Action
As skilled tradespeople, Millwrights believe we have a responsibility to be involved and aware of how all levels of government policy can affect our workplace.
Tax Fraud Days of Action led by our Millwright Regional Council of Ontario, is an initiative we are participating in. This campaign highlights how employers in the underground economy exploit workers and society as a whole. By paying low wages, no benefits like E.I. and workers health and safety insurance, these employers also undermine our health, social and infrastructure programs by not paying taxes on wages and profits.
